About the project
Program
A maximum of 800 homes are planned on the 26-hectare site: mainly owner-occupied homes, vacant lots and also private sector rental homes. With the development of Nieuw Kralingen, the city can increase the housing supply of centrally located spacious homes and respond to the demand from families and seniors with higher incomes. On the north side of the residential area, a new business strip will be created as a transition zone between the current business park and the homes.

Nieuw Kralingen will be a future-proof, sustainable residential area with high ambitions on the themes of Energy, Water, Mobility, Circularity, Social and Green. The sustainability ambitions are an integral part of the area developments and grow with the times. In this way, the latest insights can also be used in the future.
Relocation Bosdreef
The current Bosdreef will be relocated to the north side of the plan area so that in the future the residential area will connect to the Kralingse Bos without any barriers. The realigned Bosdreef then connects a bit more to the north with the Boezemlaan. This is expected to mean that some of the current users of the Bosdreef will use other routes in the future.
Schedule
The desire to realize a residential area on this location has been around for some time. The area is designated as a development location in the City Vision 2007. After processing all responses to the draft area vision, the amended vision is submitted to the municipal council for adoption. A draft zoning plan will then be made available for inspection. Construction of the first homes will start at the end of 2018 at the earliest. The total development could take 15 years.
