What was once the defense site of Utrecht will develop in the coming years into a lively, contemporary city district: De Nieuwe Defense. The approximately 800 social rented homes, mid-term rental homes and private sector homes that form this new city quarter are diverse in architecture and type. The New Defense is developing in phases. At the beginning of 2021, the festive go-ahead was given for the construction of the first phase, which consists of 80 social rental homes and 211 owner-occupied homes. The Municipality of Utrecht, Mitros, BPD and ERA Contour work closely together on this. BPD is developing the homes. ERA Contour is responsible for the construction.
