Puerta Barqueta in Seville

About the project

It is developed on a residential building with historical character located in a corner of the historical center and in an emblematic point of the transformation that supposed for the city the Universal Exhibition of 1992, next to the access to the Island of the Cartuja through the Bridge of the Barqueta. Its immediate surroundings are the Alameda, a space rehabilitated for Seville in recent years, the Basilica and wall of the Macarena, the former Hospital of the Five Wounds current headquarters of the Andalusian Parliament and all the old town that has been accessed for centuries through the Puerta de la Barqueta. On the other side of the Torneo street is the Expo site, now transformed into a Technology Park, University Campus and Theme Park, with unique elements such as the Torre Sevilla or the new School of Engineers.

In addition to all this, the avenue that forms the Guadalquivir River offers a wide green recreation area and top-level sports facilities, where a new City Council project has just been approved that will improve the urbanization and endowments of the area.

Direct communications to the SE-30 ring road, quick access to the Airport and Santa Justa Station. It is also surrounded by the bike lane, which allows a comfortable and sustainable travel.

The building that will respect the original façade, thus giving prominence to the traditional village of the environment, is organized around a central courtyard from where the accesses to the homes are distributed, configuring an element of contrast with tradition, from the new conception of the urban habitability.
